The smokiness is Pashasha! like mom used to say (aka, great, amazing, stunning, the bomb!)

This sauce is lekker for braai, oven, slap chips, gatsby, chicken, boeries, meat, fish, pizza and even grilled veggies. Or use as a dipping sauce for samosas, frikadels or anything you like.
